Augmented Reality Taking over in Times Square is a “old” (how can a project from 2011 be old? times goes by so rapidly in New Media development) or maybe better known concept that is still worth mentioning as I like the idea a lot: Just replace all the visual noise produced by advertizing and replace it with art.
It also reminds me quite much of the workshop I took with Julian Oliver and Damien Steward in Helsinki/Finland in May 2011. They developed a software (+ actual hardware) called “The artvertiser” that I should be posting about soon.
